Where does fear come from?
How does it hold you?
If you tried, could you set yourself free?
It comes through your senses
And it comes through your mind
But at its source -
Its something you believe
A lie will grow
A lie will steal
A lie will become your fears
It will take your peace and then your will
And then even your sanity
A lie will pull down
Thoughts about you
That were wholesome, supportive and true
A lie will pervert
And then push away
The things that are pure in you
So can you let go of the lie,
Like a stone, in your hand
Can it fall to the ground next to you?
Most of the time
It sounds like a line
From one of your favourite pop tunes
So how can you go
Free yourself from this stuff
That has entangled you?
Dislodge fear from it place
When you find the embrace
That was measured in love
Just for you
I hold the key
To the courage you need
To fight the demons of fear in your mind
And I can give it to you
If you stop for a few
Relax, and stay here for three
Just three minutes today
Could you stop and just pray?
I will be right by your side
I can take all the stuff
That has broken your trust
And restore the wounds deep inside
Then you'll not take that lie
That seemed shimmery and bright
But dissolves in your hands just a quick
Leaving that stone
Cold, lifeless and hard
A stone that looks more like a brick
So give it away
Even just for a day
And you'll see
That its true - It was you
That believed in that lie
And then buried the truth
That was there to set you free
And from the ashes
Of that cold dark place
I can breathe a life anew
The numbness will leave
And the vision will come
Of one who is chosen by me
Then in courage you'll stand
With a sword in your hand
Holding keys
That are truth upon truth
It will build you a path
Where your feet to walk
Into freedom
Fearless and Free
