Ballerina Girls tells the story of young girls in a detention facility at Cherbourg, having been taken from their homes, as part of the Stolen generation. The indigenous elder recalls the beauty and simplicity of the moment when they would gather around the small keepsake ballerina music box and enjoy of the music taking inspiring them into their dreaming, of the  rich heritage of their culture and the connection to the landscape beyond the walls of the dormitory.
